Sports Illustrated iPad “Scandal”

Sports Illustrated says unfair iPad subscription terms led to cut features via appleinsider

Interesting…I wouldn’t have assumed that apple would allow for an overlay telling users “You’re holding it wrong!” as an acceptable way to support all orientations since that is a requirement of iPad apps.  I wonder if an indie developer could have gotten away with the same thing.

One thing is for sure though, I am really sick of major publishing companies complaining about apple taking too big of a cut and having to play by the same rules as all the other developers.  It is a free market so no one is forcing you to provide content for the platform.  Right now they do have a monopoly on the tablet market but that doesn’t stop companies from not taking part of the platform or to wait for android tablets to come out later this year to focus more on their digital distribution plan.
